I am honored to announce that Dr. Lynette Williamson, Ed.D, MBA, RHIA, CCS, CPC, FAHIMA, has attained the distinction of a Faculty Fellow with the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Her new credential is FCAHIIM.
CAHIIM is the commission that accredits the Health Information Programs at the college and university levels and attaining this accreditation requires a great deal of work both in the community and in the classroom. The FCAHIIM designation recognizes her expertise and contributions to the Health Information community both in and out of class.
To achieve the credential, there are stringent eligibility requirements that include:
Having gone through at least one CAHIIM Accreditation Program Comprehensive Review as a faculty member.
Having volunteered with CAHIIM in at least one or more of the following capacities for at least five (5) cumulative years of service:
CAHIIM Peer Reviewer
CAHIIM Council Member
CAHIIM Board Member
CAHIIM Committee or Work Group Member
Having worked in higher education for at least 7 years.
Having attended at least one CAHIIM Accreditation Process Training.
Having attended at least one CAHIIM Summit on Higher Education.
AND
Volunteering in the local/state/national HIM/HI Community.
Health Information Education is specialized and requires a breadth of knowledge that includes real-world experience as a leader and a HI professional. To be a GREAT Health Information educator and a Program Director, you care about your Health Information community, the association, your program, and imparting your mana`o to your students. It is an honor to recognize Lynette’s service, devotion, dedication, and volunteer spirit for the state of Hawaii members and students.
