A Farewell Message from Jane Schramko
Aloha HHIA Members,
As my term as President of the Hawaii Health Information Association (HHIA) comes to a close on June 30, 2026, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we have shared over the past year. It has been an absolute honor to serve this community during such a transformative period for our profession and our association.
This year was defined by a shared vision to elevate the Health Information Management (HIM) profession across our islands. Together, we reached several monumental milestones:
2026 Annual Conference: We gathered in person at the Alohilani Resort in Waikiki for our first face-to-face meeting in years. The engagement, education, and networking shared during those days reminded us all of the strength of our local community.
Governor’s Proclamation: Patrice Jackson, our Executive Director secured a significant acknowledgment from Governor Josh Green, M.D., who officially issued a Proclamation recognizing Health Information Professionals Week in Hawaii, highlighting our critical role in protecting patient data and driving digital transformation.
Student Advocacy: Shawn Bucsit, our President Elect, expanded our outreach to the next generation of professionals through a successful workshop and exhibit at the 2026 HOSA State Conference, ensuring the future of our industry remains bright.

As we transition into the 2026-2027 board year starting July 1, I am thrilled to welcome Shawn Bucsit as your incoming President. Shawn’s dedication to HHIA has been evident through his work on the Annual Conference and his advocacy for student engagement, and I have full confidence that the association will thrive under his leadership.
