Aloha from the 2026-2027 HHIA President
Aloha HHIA members,
I hope this message finds everyone having a great summer so far! I am excited to serve as the HHIA President for the 2026-2027 year and look forward to building on the progress and momentum HHIA has made thus far. I would like to give a big Mahalo to this year’s board members who are continuing to serve, as well as give special shoutouts to Lela Ollila for joining as Treasurer, Charlotte Fujishiro for joining as Secretary, and Patrice Jackson for her continued willingness to serve, who is also next to serve as President for the 27-28 board year.
For the new fiscal year, the HHIA board has their sight on two main initiatives to enhance membership value and ensure HHIA’s sustainability:
Bringing the 2027 HHIA Annual Conference back in-person while growing attendance and exhibitor/vendor participation
Growing member engagement to align with HHIA’s vision: Providing trusted quality health Information and education for Hawaii and beyond.
Also, a sneak peek: if you were unable to attend HHIA’s conference in April, I’m excited to share that select sessions will soon be available virtually, giving you the chance to revisit favorite topics or catch what you may have missed. Please keep an eye out for more details rolling out soon.
Lastly, your voice matters. HHIA’s strength lies in its members, and your active participation is crucial and appreciated. AHIMA’s national election is now open, and I strongly encourage every one of you to participate. The leaders elected at the national level help shape policy, standards, and resources that directly impact how we practice HIM here in Hawaii. You can get to know the candidates on the 2026 AHIMA election ballot through the June Member Gathering recording, available here, and keep an eye out for an email from “invitations@mail.electionbuddy.com” to cast your vote.
