Earlier this October, HHIA traveled to San Antonio, Texas to represent Hawaiʻi at two of the most important events in our profession's calendar: the AHIMA26 Annual Conference and the AHIMA House of Delegates meeting.
On Sunday, October 4th, we walked into the AHIMA House of Delegates as Hawaiʻi's voice at the national table. The House of Delegates, founded in 1946, is AHIMA's deliberative member assembly, where delegates from every state's Component Association come together to advocate for the profession, shape standards, and contribute to the strategic direction of health information management nationwide. Being in that room, surrounded by HIM leaders from across the country, all working toward the same goal was a powerful reminder of why this work matters.
The conference itself was two days of outstanding education, meaningful networking, and professional energy that reminded us of everything that makes our field extraordinary. From cutting-edge sessions on coding updates and CDI to conversations about AI, health equity, and the future of revenue cycle. We shared the experience in real time through HHIA's social media channels throughout the week. If you missed our posts, head over to our social media accounts to catch the highlights, including a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to represent Hawaiʻi on the national stage! A heartfelt mahalo to everyone who followed along, liked, shared, and cheered us on from home. You were with us every step of the way!
Your input is needed! Where does your work fit within the health information profession? Help ensure Hawaii’s health information professionals are represented in this national research.
The Health Information Continuum™ national workforce survey is exploring the work health information professionals do, where they work, and the competencies they use across different roles and settings. Please complete the survey by October 31:
Whether you work in coding, compliance, data analytics, privacy, education, technology, or another area of health information, your experience matters.
Already participated? Thank you! Please share the survey with colleagues and encourage them to add their perspectives.
Welcome Our New HHIA Secretary: Joyce! We are excited to share a wonderful update with our HHIA Board of Directors: please join us in welcoming Joyce Kilgore, MSHCM, CPC, CCS, CRC, CHDA as our newest HHIA Board Secretary!
